GINECOMASTY

INTRODUCTION

Ginecomasty means: breasts growth but in case of men, the translation from Greek means” women's breasts”. Ginecomasty may affect one or both breasts.

The breast development in case of men may have various degrees: from discreet, to obvious. Most frequently ginecomasty is installed in puberty, but at adult age is present at about 25-30 % of the masculine population. The most frequent cause of ginecomasty is an increase of estrogen hormones level and the decrease of the level of androgen hormones. It has also been observed a connection between ginecomasty and the administration of certain medicines, the alcohol consumption, drugs, and obesity.

It is inserted a drainage tube in order to prevent the hematomas and seroms.

If the principaL cause of ginecomasty is the excessive fat than the ginecomasty is corrected by lipoaspiration.

POST-OPERATOR HOSPITALISATION

The scars are reddish and swollen for about 6 months and only after a period of 9 months - one year, they scars become neat and fade. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure for one year after the surgery, because the scars may become pigmented.
