A” perfect nose “ might not be suitable to your face and so the aim of the rhinoplastia is to modify in a specific and limited way only certain unwanted features and to obtain a harmonious balance between the nose and the rest of the face elements.

The nose is a unique element, with a singular structure that varies from one individual to the other, depending on the genetic heritage.

The improvement of the specific characteristics of the nose combined with a harmonious and aesthetic ratio between the nose and the rest of the face is called rhinoplastia.

Rhinoplastia is an aesthetic surgery that is applied to the nasal pyramid, being one of the most common and solicited operations. It is a technique that restructures and gives back the natural shape of the nose by correcting the inherited deformities or by repairing the post-traumatic and post-combustion sequels.

The most suitable candidates for rhinoplastia are people who want an improvement and not perfection with regards to their appearance.

Rhinoplastia is performed with local or general anesthesia depending on the extent of the surgery and on the patient's requests. The surgery, which lasts for about 1-2 hours, can be carried our by using different methods and procedures, endonasal (with incisions in the inner part of the nose) or external (in more severe cases). During the surgery the skin of the nose is removed from the bone and cartilaginous pyramid which are then sculpted to the desired shape. In the end the skin is placed back on the new nasal bone structure.

After the operation the patient shall wear an immobilization device, a “splint” made of aluminum, which ensures the protection and the stability of the new shape. This stage will last for 7 days.

IMPORTANT: During the first days after the surgery the patient will have a tumid face with oedemas and bruises, especially at the level of the lower eyelids, minor bleeding at the level of nasal tamponaments as well as nose pains and a slight headache.

•  antialgics;
•  cold local compresses;
•  do not blow your nose for a week -this fact will help the recovery of the nasal mucus.
•  do not hit or rub your nose and avoid sun exposure for 8 weeks.
•  avoid jogging, swimming, bending, sexual intercourse and in general any kind of activities that lead to the raising of the blood pressure (for 2-3 weeks).

After the surgery most of the patients feel depressed for a while, which is quite normal and understandable, after all. You can rest assured that this stage shall be over, your condition will improve and within 2-3 weeks you will not have any signs of the operation.
